Michael Jackson & Le Coq Sportif 80’s football shirt
After hearing from numerous windows and mouths Michael Jackson’s songs this week-end, Le Coq Sportif kind of have to do an homage to the King of pop.
It has been found those improbable pictures of Michael Jackson wearing an OGC Nice football shirt in 1983. Michael had just gave birth to the top seller album of all time « Thriller» when these pictures was taken.
Sorry for the cliché, but we had to put a song from this album to go along with this post, it’s hard to choose the right one but « Wanna be startin’ somethin’» is maybe the one that brings more joy in our head, it has this crazy rythm at end that makes you wish the song should never stop.

Black Lips & AS St Etienne vintage shirt…
Really, you know we love The Black Lips…check the video we did last October for their coming in Paris.
The Black Lips are the album Highlight of « l’album de la semaine« , a French TV show on Canal+, with» 200 MILLION THOUSAND« , their last album.
It’s with the legendary vintage shirt of the AS St Etienne football team that the drummer Joe Bradley arrived. Platini / Black Lips, same thing…more or less…

Late Of The Pier

It is pretty hard to talk bad about a band on this blog since we usually have already adopt them…
Well, here is Late of The Pier, the kind of band that you see arriving from very far, too far, and that maybe you don’t get interesting in first place because of a invading hype surrounding them…pretty stupid story…
But, when you listen to Fantasy Black Channel for the first time, something weird happens, like that green weird smoke that pops after that little experience you did during your science class. It is now clear, you really start loving it !
This 1st album from these four very fresh young adults coming from a little town near Nottingham (Donington precisely) and produced by Erol Alkan (King of clubs in the UK and even across the borders) is barely describable. We would venture to describe it as a gentle and smiling giant layed down in a very green meadow dreaming of space aventures…
One thing is sure, is that this album will not only make you rock but dance too with tracks such as the psychedelic synth 80’s pop, (♬) « Bathroom Gurgle» where you’ll ear gurlging voices or, the catchy indie pop (♬) « The Bears Are Coming» , not to mention the more radically electro rock (♬) « Focker» .
If you think you did understand the album make sure to lend a ear to the punk (♬) « Whitesnake» and, let the music speaks for itself with the intrumental (♬) « VW» , where the saxo bridge definitely made us think of the very 90’s Dog Eeat Dog…sorry for the comparison, we could have find more acceptable ones like Gang Of Four but, that is what we are trying to tell you here, this piece wakes up some old, strange and fresh emotions at the same time.
Tonight, you can count on us, we will attend their live in Paris, we actually can’t wait, we will be there dissecting their performance with our eyes and ears like if they were never seen animals.
Late Of The Pier are touring in France, starting today until January 31st. (all the date on their MySpace page).
