Le Coq Sportif entered into international sporting history, due to the numerous victories on the football field. From the Saint-Etienne team, to the national teams of Argentina or Italy, the french brand has always been a leader in this domaine.
At the same time in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the French brand was also a leader in African football, supplying almost all the national teams.
In 1974, Le Coq Sportif was part of the historic event on the African continent and the rest of the world when the Zaire Leopards qualified for the World Cup in Germany, becoming the first sub-Saharian African team to realise this exploit and enter the history books.
35 years after, the whole footballing world is ready to celebrate the first African World Cup by flying to South Africa in Juin; the Coq Sportif is again paying hommage to the ‘Leopards’ team.
Created especially for this grand occasion the ‘Premium Leopards’ line by Le Coq Sportif is inspired by the original green tshirt, with a V (for victory) neck, flocked with the orange Leopard logo worn by the Team from Zaïre when they qualified. This same t-shirt has bee re-edited for the occasion inslighlty less flashy and more trendy colours .
Playing with the colours of the Zaïre flag, the ‘Premium Leopards’ line, made in Europe, proposes t-shirts, hoodies, polos or tracksuits in gold, blood red, black and cactus.
